Proud Venezuelan Jose Lopez was 17 years old when he signed a professional contract with the Houston Astros, one of the biggest teams in Major League Baseball. Whilst making his way up through the organisation, he suffered a stroke which required brain surgery, taking him out of the professional game. 20 years later, Jose has used his passion for baseball to launch a team open to all levels on the south coast of England.
This documentary explores lives and deep bonds of the first and second generation migrants who are using baseball to build a new home in the UK.
Bournemouth Bears Baseball Team
The Bournemouth Bears were established in 2017 by Jose Lopez.
It was his passion for coaching and baseball that led him to starting the team.
They are a team that pride themselves on being open to everyone, even if you are brand new to the sport or you’ve been playing baseball for years.
